In this autobiography, Muhammad Asad (1900-1992) relates his journey from his origins as an Austro-Hungarian Jew, Leopold Weiss, his study of religions, his travels as a diplomat on behalf of Pakistan, to his conversion to Islam, becoming an Islamic scholar and one of the most influential European Muslims of the 20th century. This book describes the happiness and sense of reality brought to one man by the Islamic way of life. The author does not wish to preach or to convert.
